Moving On – Medium

Dear US,

I can’t believe it has been 166 years. Time goes by so fast…like a flash of gold in a mining pan.

There was so much promise in the beginning. I knew you had a checkered past and I was no saint. I didn’t think we would make it after that awful period in the 1860s, but we got through it and I thought we were stronger for it.
